The book Wes and Addie Had Their Chance centers around Wes and Addie who like any other normal young adults decided, screw it let’s get married. However, Wes changed his mind about the whole marriage thing and left her at the alter.
Years and a new husband later, well newly dead husband, Addie has moved back to Adelaide Springs, the small town where she grew up. Everyone knows everyone and everyone knows about Addie and Wes and how he left her.
Wes is now running for president and his face is all over the news. So everyone is rightfully worried for Addie.
After moving back to her hometown Addie starts working as a driver.
Coincidently one night after a call to do a pickup she runs into, say it with me now, Wes or should I call him Mr. Senator. He’s shocked and we’re not sure what Addie feels but… what will this sudden meeting lead to forgiveness, or will there be something more?

First Impressions
Now, I try not to judge a book by its cover but the cover was what drew me in. First page had me locked in like I was immersed.
Addie’s sour but nonchalant attitude to everything was nice had me wondering what it would be like when she cracked.
What I Love About Wes and Addie Had
I loved the way Addie didn’t let her past affect her future. She moved on, got married, he died, she handled it.
Ok she moved back home to be with her dad. We never realize our parents are getting old until there are telltale signs, then its worrying but not for Addie.
Her dad was strong, the town doctor and that made her the town mascot. She wasn’t mad about that. It’s been that way since she was a kid. Its the norm.
Now Addie is in her 40’s. She was grateful for what she had and that is refreshing. Sure she was like any other grown up but still I like her.
Now Wes didn’t seem all that regretful. He was happy running for president and I vibed with that.
Move on its good for you. He made a mistake and didn’t fix it but at least he didn’t make it worse.
What could have been better
Wes and Addie Had Their Chance is a good book but there were some spelling and grammatical errors that should be fixed. Its easily noticed and might be off putting to some readers.
Who should read this?
I think people who like books about finding closure, or a way to reconcile the past should read this.
There is a lesson in it about moving forward and forgeting about the past and its hardships: if you can’t fix it let it be. It won’t fix it itself. After a while you’ll forget about it.
Final thoughts
Wes and Addie Had Their Chance is a book that I connected with. It was slow paced but it got the message across. Wanna know what it is? Read the book and find out.
Now, finally, the book was good. It was too slow-paced for me, but I dug in, and I enjoyed it. Why don’t you give it a try?
