Quick Summary
In a world where there is segregation between high fae and lesser fae, a high fae named Ara chose to be the anomaly in the mix. After losing almost everything she still stood up for what is right sticking to her parents teaching and fighting against evil doers even if they are her kind.
Then there is Temir he is a lesser fae that was given the status of high fae by his king because he has a power that the king covets. He does as he is asked but his mind holds much more that the king is trying to hide.

First Impressions
In the beginning I was not captivated by the opening of Blood and Promise (Fae Rising). I thought it was going to be a boring book. However since I love books so much, I thought I’d give it a chance and as I delved deeper into the story I began to enjoy the book as I listened further.
What I Loved
I especially enjoyed the female lead Ara as she is one that pulls through no matter the adversities she face. She is also quite a spunky character that does not take anyone’s crap.
She is my type of heroine and this is why I love her.
Are you looking for a great children’s book that is encouraging and inspiring? Dear Black Boy is just what you need. On the other hand if you are looking for a spunky young heroine and a great message check out Maggie Sparks and the Truth Dragon.
What Could Have Been Better
For me the narrators could have been a little more immersed in their respective roles and the opening chapters could have been more captivating.
Favourite Characters
I quite enjoy Temir the lesser fae that was accepted as a high fae and Ara a high fae fighting for the oppressed regardless of status.
Who Should Read This
This book is for persons that enjoy a slow building plot. It’s a good book about betrayal, budding love, revenge and war.
Final Thoughts
Blood and Promise (Fae Rising) is an enjoyable audio book regardless of some of the issues mentioned. I would definitely read or listen to books from Miranda Lyn again. I have no problem recommending it.
