Quick Summary

In the novel Never Date Your Brother’s Best Friend, Cali, a 21-year-old grad student, is determined to help her best friend move on after an awkward encounter with her ex and his new girlfriend.

To execute her plan, Cali and her best friend head to Lake Tahoe for jobs at a casino, hoping to earn money for their futures.

Unexpectedly, they cross paths with Jaeger, Cali’s older brother’s best friend from high school.

While Cali initially sees Jaeger as the perfect match for her best friend, she can’t ignore her own growing feelings for him.

The situation becomes even more complicated as Cali is still in a relationship with her current boyfriend, leaving her torn between loyalty, friendship, and the possibility of something more with Jaeger.

First Impressions

Now, guys, when I say I was immediately hooked by this story, I mean the minute my eyes landed on that title, I was intrigued.

But what really did it for me was that first page. When I flipped that page and read that first paragraph, I had to pause for a minute because Miss Jules really knew what she was doing with those first few sentences.

She said, “I’m gonna have your attention one way or the other,” and that’s exactly what she did.

What I Loved

I loved how Cali really kept her friend first and foremost in her mind throughout the story. Her determination to see her best friend happy was so heartwarming.

Even when things got complicated with her own feelings, she never lost sight of her goal to lift her friend up during a tough time. The way she balanced her friendships, her personal struggles, and her ambitions showed a depth to her character that made her incredibly easy to root for.

What Could Have Been Better

I’m gonna be honest—there’s not much I’d change about this story. From the storyline to the grammar and even the way the characters were developed, the story was so well written that I couldn’t put it down.

Oh! Hello! Now that I have you here, have you checked out Maggie Sparks and The Truth Dragon? Oh, you haven’t? Then you probably should. You didn’t hear this from me, but it’s a fantastic children’s book. That’s all I’ll say.

Who Should Read This

My girls and gals who love a good brother’s best friend trope, this one’s for you! If you’re into slow-burn romances with a little bit of tension, heartfelt friendships, and just the right amount of drama to keep you flipping those pages, you’ll absolutely adore this story.

Final Thoughts

This book is worth all the hours I spent reading it. The author did a great job capturing the emotions and giggles that came with reading it. It’s the kind of story that makes you laugh, swoon, and maybe even tear up a little, all while keeping you hooked until the very end. It’s a book I would keep on recommending.

Before You Go

You can’t possibly tell me you haven’t read Never Date Your Brother’s Best Friend—seriously, how have you survived without it? We need to change that right now. Go on, stop everything, and check it out—I’ll wait.

When you are finished, let me know what you think of it. (You’re welcome, by the way.)

While you’re at it, take a peek at some of our recent reviews, like… oh, I don’t know, does Now and Forever intrigue you, or how about Absent Feelings? Beware, though, Absent Feelings is a thriller. Can you handle it?
