Quick Summary

In the book Make Your Play, we encounter Nash, a famous Hockey player and Riley his sister’s best friend. Riley and Nash have always had this tension between them since high school.

Many years and a positive pregnancy test later we are delving into the chaotic mess that has become their lives.

Riley was always seen as family, someone off the dating table for Nash but all that changes as he offers Riley a life changing opportunity, to marry him…

Ok. Hold on. I’m sure you’re confused. I’ll explain.

So Riley’s a good way into her pregnancy and she’s having some issues with her health and her health insurance doesn’t cover maternity so she’s working herself tired trying to make ends meet.

That’s where Nash and his proposal comes in. Having no other choice she accepts, for the insurance of course, not because she’s in love with him or anything…

First Impression

The first chapters were good, captivating in a different type of way. I actually thought I was going to eat well today but alas the first few chapters were the only good ones.

This is me being brutally honest and this is inspite of the fact that Cali Melle is a USA Today Bestselling Author of Dirty Pucking Play.

What I Loved

I loved the fact that Nash is the perfect gentleman with just a little bit of a wild side. He is patient and very understanding with her and it speaks to his character.

Riley is ever headstrong but she knew her limits. She resolved everything in favor of her baby and honestly i don’t judge her. I understand

Her bond with everyone was refreshing and the way she tries to keep a brave face as well made me respect her dedication.

Now Riley and Nash both going above and beyond for each other was also something that spoke to me. He wasn’t the father but he sure as hell was there for everything or as much as he could be during the last couple of months.

What Could Have Been Better

Ok let’s jump right in, the writing could’ve been so much better the random wrong wording really got to me. It even made me put the book down a few times.

It took me two weeks to finish and Make Your Play and it wasn’t even that long.

Now when the book was being advertised it was advertised as a hockey book but there’s barely any hockey scenes inside which was a little disappointing.

Who Should Read This

Anyone looking for a short romance book with a bit of spice should read this. Its a bit frustrating but that’s just my opinion.

Final Thoughts

The book could’ve been better but it wasn’t the worst the wording was my biggest problem.
