First Impression
Having read Hidden: Triquetra Prophecy Book 1 I already had high expectations of Taken: Triquetra Prophecy Book 2. The description also suggested great story that I could not afford to miss.
Upon reading the first few pages I was bombarded with a lot of rage, pain and loss. These are the things that beat at me at the start of Taken.
And just like that I find myself rooting for Shannon. She is alone and weak, but far from beaten. The foundation was laid for a great story.
What I Loved
Melody Grace Rose spared no effort in developing the intricate plot and her world building could not be faulted. The sex scenes were certainly explosive and I couldn’t fault that.
What Could Have Been Better
There were times when I felt that this story went on and on and on. It became more and more intricate while I became more impatient. I think that could have been improved.
Instead of making me want to dive in, after many plot twists I really wanted to skip ahead. Afterall I was there for the romance and it was muted for much of the story.
I felt there was just too much conflict that went on and on that it took away from the story. Additionally the established romance from book one which I loved was damaged in book one or at least that’s how I felt.
Additionally this book shattered my idealistic views of romance and soul mates.
Does that mean it is a bad book? No but if I knew that was coming I would have stopped at book 1, a book that hit every mark and then some.
My established expectations of what a romantic relationship looks like and what soulmate mean was shattered in Taken. In that I was disappointed.
I gave this two stars because while Melody Grace Hicks is a great writer I am just not ready for this new version of Shannon.
