Quick Summary
For Now and Forever is a story about self-discovery and second chances. Emily Mitchell, a thirty-five-year-old woman living in New York City, is no stranger to disappointment, especially when it comes to relationships.
After seven years with her boyfriend, on their anniversary, Emily expected a ring, but instead, she gets a perfuming bottle, forcing her to accept that her relationship is stagnant.
Looking for a fresh start, Emily left the big city and headed to the only place she knew, comfort, her father’s long-abandoned coastal home in Maine.
Once a place of happy childhood summers, the house has fallen into disrepair after decades of neglect. But as she begins to uncover secrets within the home and its small-town surroundings, Emily finds herself drawn to its charm and to the enigmatic, handsome caretaker who seems to know more about the property than he lets on.
With each passing day, Emily begins to wonder if the answers she’s been searching for might lie in this place she once tried to forget.
First Impressions
It took me a while to get into the story. The pacing felt a bit slow initially, and it took me a moment to connect with the characters. However, by the time I got to chapter 5, the narrative had completely drawn me in.
The emotional layers and the unfolding mystery really had me hooked.
Are you in the market for some great children’s books? Lore of the Deep may be just what you are looking for.
What I Loved
I loved how Emily, in spite of loving her ex, decided it was time to let go. The relationship wasn’t moving; she wanted more than just the status quo.
She prioritized her own happiness and took control of her life. It was empowering to read.
Some women stay even though they know it won’t change, but Emily decided to start over instead of going down a path that would not benefit her.
What Could Have Been Better
While For Now And Forever was wonderful, the beginning felt a bit slow, in my opinion. That said, when the story started picking up, it delivered beautifully.
