Quick Summary
Samiya Visits the Pharmacy explores what happens when Samiyah visits the doctor and later the pharmacist. Like many young children, Samiyah has questions, and Dr. Williams takes time to answer.
Later, Samiya and her mom visit the pharmacy, where the pharmacist explains his role and teaches Samiya several important things all children need to learn.

First Impression
As I read Samiya Visits the Pharmacy, I realize it is not the type of book that my children and I would typically read. I would buy this book for a child who is afraid to visit the doctor.
Alternatively, I may use it in an elementary school to teach children the meaning of certain words or as part of a lesson on careers in medicine.
I think of it as a beautiful teaching tool because the book is interesting and informative, and it would be a great way to launch a discussion in the classroom.
What I Loved About Samiya Visits the Pharmacy
I love the age-appropriate language and explanations contained in this book.
What Could Have Been Better
I am not sure what Samara Chienye envisioned when she laid out her marketing strategy but as a teacher I think that she should have added some simple age appropriate questions and market this as an educational book.
She is an expert in the field and this book may also appeal to children aspiring to the field of medicine.
As a side note she may even try developing a series.
Favorite Character
Samiya is my favorite character. With the inquisitiveness of a child she asks all of the right questions.
Who Should Read This
Well in case you missed that part. I believe this should be read as classroom material to teach students about medicine, what some words mean and to educate children on what the can expect when visiting the doctor.
Final Thoughts
Samiya Loves to Read is a easy to read educational tool that serves as a way to educate children about what they can expect when visiting a doctor.
It also answers questions children who are interested in medicine may have.
