The Pugly Duckling by Carly Silvano is an interesting children’s story about a pug that thought he was a duckling but as a result did not fit in.
The story is related in the form of a rhyme. This in fact makes it quite interesting for small children. Additionally, there is an important message in there for all ages about embracing your individuality and how being yourself can in turn help to break barriers.

What I Liked
I liked the message in the story where the outcast turned out to be the one who saves the day. The fact that in being himself he was able to make friends also made this a fun story to read. Lastly, I loved the illustrations which demonstrated the contents of the story clearly.
What I Didn’t Like
The rhymes didn’t quite work well at times however overall this was a fun read.
