Ghost Of An Enchantment by J.E. McDonald is a great fantasy romance with lots of intrigue thrown in.
This story is a wonderful modern day fantasy that mixes old world ideas of witches and other magical creatures with modern ways to make a great read.
In this story, our heroine Stella Campfield, is a witch who grew up with many of our everyday problems. Deserted by her parents Stella can barely remember her mother and never knew her father. She had a grandmother who cared greatly for her however and tried to balance the scale.
As she grew she discovered that she had special powers that cause other witches to walk light of her. She is in many ways very warm and caring and would do anything to protect those in her inner circle. She is also very wary of crowds because of her special abilities.
Now things are suddenly beginning to change in Stella’s life. First she discovers problems with her grandmother’s health and her estate that seem insurmountable even for such a powerful witch.
Then she finds herself drawn to a man who she knows she should resist due to her grandmother’s most dire warnings.
Stella is torn as she discovers that what Nana says does not line up with her readings of his energy. Stella must decide for herself whether to trust Officer Lucas Martinez or avoid him at all cost.
To put the icing on the cake there is a series of disturbing events about town that could spell trouble for Earth and all the other realms.
Stella must act if she is to stop Earth’s total destruction from unfolding.
Unfortunately dark magic is at work and Stella has never tampered with dark magic.
She must find the answers before all is lost.
A ghost of Enchantment is a well written captivating novel that is funny, intriguing and has boundless twists and turns that will have the reader caught up for hours.
This is the sort of story that warrants a second read.
