Synopsis

Dark World: Oblivion is a very interesting book that seems to encompass a mixture of ideas that have formed the basis for many of society’s problems.

A. R. Kingston’s book crafted a story of Alexandra Hamilton, the princess of Manevia who ran away to marry Jay Hartwood a half-blood. This was considered an abomination to many and is unheard-of.

None the less against all expectations their marriage is sanctioned by the grand commander and they got married.

However, upon moving to Fall Harbor they are forced to deal with the narrow-minded bigotry of Those consumed by the need to stump out people of mixed heritage in order to protect the bloodline of the pureblood.

This story had many unexpected twists and turns. It covers the topics of intolerance, physical and sexual abuse,  murder, abuse of power, divisive thinking, and the fight for equality.

While the genre is fantasy the ideas and issues are very real and relatable.

There is a darkness to this story. While a romance runs through it, it’s the feeling of oppression that stands out the most.

At first glance, this appeared to be a pretty mundane novel. However, by the end of the second chapter, the idea went out of the window as hints about the secrets these characters hold begin to come to light.

What I Liked

I liked the fact that these characters who appeared so mundane at first sight turned out to be extraordinary to the point of changing the world.

Point to Note

I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for a review.

Stamp Of Approval

I would certainly recommend this book as an interesting read.

Reading through your review about the book Dark World, got me fascinated and I really want to read the book. The fact that it shows what happens in our society and the challenges we face will make the book more interesting and a book someone should have in the library.

Of course, the fantasy genre is its own appeal since this will open up the book to much more interesting twists and turns.

      Hi Saint,

Admittedly the fact that it is relatable and deals with everyday issues is a great selling point for this story. I am a lover of fantasy and the fact that this one actually introduces some new beings with unexpected powers makes it so much more interesting.

      Hello,

I agree the surprises in a book always makes it so much better. However, this is one of those times when the slow start may keep persons from that surprise because it didn’t capture the attention at the beginning.
