When Emma moves to the small town of Chestertown for three months she doesn’t expect to make any friends or like the place. She expects to remain the outcast she has always been. However, not only does she make friends, she fits in like she has never done before. Emma has also caught the attention of one of the most eligible bachelors in town.
Now as the time draws near for Emma to leave, she finds herself at crossroads needing to decide whether to call this small town home or return to the city she always fit her perfectly.
Emma has always considered herself a nerd. In the small town in Pennsylvania where she grew up, her introverted personality and brilliant mind made her a ready outcast. As a result, Emma turned her back on small-town life for big city lights.
She is still an introvert and a nerd. However, no one pays attention to anyone’s private life in the big city so Emma can comfortably be herself.
However, an emergency in small-town Chestertown causes Emma a public defense attorney to be sent out there in spite of her dislike of small-town life.
Emma soon begins to have a new perspective on small-town life as the residents embrace her wholeheartedly and reach out to include her in their lives.
This small town is nothing like Emma expects, however. In the town of Chestertown Emma quickly makes friends but somewhere in then shadow an enemy lurks threatening Emma’s safety and peace of mind.
Officer Luke is running for sheriff and is not at all challenged by Emma’s brains. He sees beyond the brain to the woman beneath.
When Luke accidentally finds out Emma is being threatened he makes it his business to investigate.
Brad Campbell is Luke’s opponent in the upcoming election. His strategy seems to be undercutting Luke at every turn.
Ashley a lawyer, Samantha a baker, and Stella quickly become Emma’s support team.
The story is set in a small town in Philadelphia, USA.
Emma a beautiful young lady who has no idea what a great catch she is.
Luke is a man on a mission to improve his community and positively impact the lives of the people in Chestertown.
Brad Campbell, a policeman running for sheriff who doesn’t mind running a race based on a mud-slinging campaign. He is Luke’s senior and doesn’t believe in letting offenses slide.
Ashley, Emma’s colleague, and friend is a lawyer who insists on working late in her bid to save the world.
Samantha is a kind soul who can always find good in everyone.
Stelly is a scatterbrained reporter who constantly forgets appointments. As a result, she is often late.
Justin Moore is Emma’s landlord and Samantha’s boss. He doesn’t mind bullying others to his own benefit.
Ben is a man high on his own puffed-up ideas of himself.
What I Liked
I liked the fact that this is no ordinary romance. The enemy lurking in the shadows, the pressures and intrigues of the political arena, and the pressure of living life in a political fishbowl all make this an interesting read.
What I Didn’t Like
I wouldn’t change any of it.
Stamp of Approval
I would certainly recommend this as a very captivating read.
