Hi everyone, welcome to The Most Interesting Books website where you will find a list of the most interesting books to read. This is a website that connects readers and authors.
I started this site because I believe new authors are having a difficult time getting their books to the masses. As such, as an avid reader, I will seek out books written by emerging authors, read them, and give my review. If I believe a book is outstanding it may make my list of the Most Interesting Books to Read.
About Candy Benn
My name is Candy Benn, the owner, and creator of The Most Interesting Books.
I’m a mom, teacher, poet, and seamstress. I have a wide range of interests but when I wish to relax I love a good book.
For the last eleven years, I spent time reading and wrote many stories for my children. They are my inspiration.
During the early stage of this pandemic, I began to think about what I’d like to do with all the spare time I had. I wrote several poems and began to work on a few short stories as well as a novel. In June 2020 I published my first poetry and review books on Wattpad.
My review book was a way to say thank you to all the authors whose books I’d enjoyed while bringing them to the attention of other readers.
Because I enjoyed the experience so much, I decided to create a review website primarily to draw attention to new books that are getting lost in the crowd.
I came up with the idea of not only writing reviews but creating a list of the Most Interesting Books to Read. Books that I believed deserve to be on every bookshelf.
With time the genres being reviewed will increase.

I Have Something to Share
Books encourage readers to use their imaginations and at the same time promote learning in terms of writing good sentence structure. They help to enlarge a reader’s vocabulary and develop their ability to spell well. However, I also know that to promote reading we also need to present readers with interesting books. This differs from one reader to the next just like our taste in everything differs. This is where my list of the Most interesting Books to Read comes in. It will be a diverse list but will feature only those that stand out from the crowd.
This site is also a way to give back to the many wonderful authors bringing joy to bookworms like me. I hope to also draw attention to those whose writings have remained unnoticed by the mainstream publishing houses.
For those independent authors, this will help to promote your books.
What Do You Have to Gain?
For Readers: No more spending hours sifting through bookshelves only to be disappointed later. No more missing all the most interesting books to read because their authors are unknown or the options are just too many.
So you will be able to learn a little about what is in those books before you purchase them. Also, clear feedback will be given on the quality of the book being considered.
Writers: If I read it I will review it. That’s my motto.
If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments section and I will respond to you.
Special Note to Caribbean Writers
As a product of the Caribbean, people who have remained an under published group; I am making a special call to Caribbean authors.
Whether your book is written in English or Creole, I will be pleased to review and post information on how they are to be obtained here. To let me know where I may access your books either leave me a comment in the comment section or inbox me at email@example.com.
Books by Caribbean Writers will be grouped in the same genres as other authors, however, they will also be grouped in the special Caribbean category.
If the book is written in creole it is expected that this will only apply to the dialogue in the story. As such the non-dialogue parts will be subjected to the same language rule as other books.
All reviews of Children Books will be written by children and will not be added to the list of the Most Interesting Books to Read.
Book covers are added with the written permission of the Authors or with the use of Affiliate links. Where an author cannot be reached, does not give permission or the admin does not have an affiliate link, a simple place holder with the book name and the name of the author will be used.
How My Grading System Works
Understand that my reviews and choices are only given from the perspective of a reader.
Some books may not make my list of the Most Interesting Books to Read but may still be outstanding. As such I will make my grading system clear so everyone will understand why a book missed the list.
The scale used is 1 to 10 for each part. A breakdown is given under each to help guide the reader.
Language – 10
- This refers to grammar, spelling, punctuation, paragraphing, and clarity.
The Hook – 10
- This is vitally important to any good book. It is present in the first paragraph and is designed to grab the reader’s attention.
Plot – 10
- Is it consistent?
- Does it build, adding tension as the story unfolds?
- Are there surprises in the story?
- Was the problem interesting?
- Is the problem resolved in a satisfactory way?
Characters – 10
- Are the characters memorable, unique, and realistic?
- Is the antagonist a worthy opponent for the main characters?
- Are the motives of the antagonist and protagonists clear?
Setting – 10
- Were you able to visualize the setting?
Effect – 10
- To what extent did the story arouse your emotions?
Originality – 10
- How original was the story?
All the points are added and divided by 7.
How Does a Book Make the List?
Any book that attains 8 points from the final average makes the list.
Note to Commenters
I believe the most interesting books to read can come from many different genres. So I will expand in the genre as time goes by.
I might be tempted to add a book to the Most Interesting Books to Read list just because it gave me such an adrenaline rush and pure satisfaction upon completion. So to level the playing field I came up with the above list of criteria. These will help me to decide when a book may join that list.
If the book is a great a piece but has many errors in language or the hook isn’t there in the first paragraph for instance it may not make the Most Interesting Books to Read list. Authors are normal people and are at different stages of development as are books. So if I see great potential in it I will still let you know how much I enjoyed that particular book and encourage you to check it out.
Readers, if upon using the criteria given above you believe a book should have made the Most Interesting Books to Read List be sure to say so in the comments section and give your rating. This won’t change my assessment, but it will encourage the author and also hopefully draw attention to their work, and this is the whole point of this site.
While it isn’t a must, all readers are encouraged to use this grading system in the comment section when giving their review/analysis of a book.
You have a voice. You influence what books are brought to the attention of the masses.
All the best,
